Know for his Wigan scenes, this is a fine Lancashire example of a more rural industrial scene that Isherwood is so recognised for.

Featured as a double page spread in the ‘Isherwood’ book by the late Stephen Eckersley, this is one of only a handful of mine scenes painted by Isherwood. This particular example was purchased directly from the Isherwood family.
