Horse and Jockey, Haydock, by James Lawrence Isherwood
An original oil on board painting by the late Wigan artist James Lawrence Isherwood depicting a horse and jockey at Haydock Park Racecourse. Compared with some other subject matters, relatively few horse racing paintings exist by Isherwood and this particular example is one of his best. Dated on the reverse as 1973, this painting was originally purchased directly from the artist by a neighbour on Wigan Lane and has remained in one family ever since. A truly rare and fine proposition for any Isherwood collector.
