Description
Nab Figures with Flowers by Geoffrey Key Original Painting
Dating from 1967, this incredibly rare oil on board by the Salford artist Geoffrey Key is one of his important compositions from what has become known as the Nab series. Around this period, Geoffrey painted a series of paintings inspired by the Nab near Glossop. Beginning as landscape paintings, the series evolved into Nab Figures and florals, forming the foundations for works which would follow in the forthcoming decades. Although titled ‘Nab Figures with Flowers’ to the reverse, suggestions of Geoffrey’s later equestrian paintings can also be seen in this pivotal work.
Titled to the reverse, the painting also bears Key’s unique database reference number indicating it’s inclusion in the official record of the artist’s works.
