Steven Townsend

Born in Lancashire in 1955, Steven Townsend developed a career which has seen him become one of the UK's most popular realist painters.

Having only taken up painting in his late twenties due to a period of illness and redundancy, his self taught talent led him being awarded the UK's best selling published artist award in 1999 by the Fine Art Trade Guild.

Well known for his landscape paintings and particularly sought after for his gun dog works, his originals achieved prices in the tens of thousands and his limited edition prints sold out and appreciated in value upon release.

Having retired from the commercial art world around a decade ago, walking and climbing in the Lake District reignited Townsend's passion for nature and painting during the Covid lockdowns. Now totally unconstrained by outside pressures or influences, he has embarked upon his most ambitious compositions in terms of scale and technique. His large landscape paintings are both large in size and huge in impact and exclusively available now from Hepplestone Fine Art who have work with the artist since their foundation in 2005.
