Blog Week 4Last updated on
There are lots of paintings and sculptures coming and going in the gallery as usual this week with some especially amazing new works just arriving.
Javier Mulio has long been one of our most popular photo realist artists in the gallery and certainly one of the finest exponents in the world. This week we are honoured to have on show the largest Mulio still life painting we have ever had which is a real stunner.
This incredible example of the Spanish painter’s work is a masterclass in his technique, vividly depicting the translucent glass and water in breathtaking fashion. Hanging at nearly 4′ wide, it will make an incredible centre piece to any Mulio collection.
Accompanying this painting are three new smaller examples of his work, again each in amazing detail. All four paintings are currently on show in the gallery so do call and take a look in person if you get chance. Full details and pricing is also available in our Mulio gallery here.
The latest original ink and wash drawings from George Somerville have also come into the gallery this week and as usual, some have already flown off the gallery walls.
With prices for these framed original works starting at only £195, it is no wonder that they don’t hang around for long. Full up to date availability is available here or by calling in the gallery.
New Sculpture from Brian Arthur
Along with the paintings, we have also sourced new sculptures from one of our most popular sculptors, Brian Arthur. Although now based in the US, Brian Arthur was born in Southport and worked for many years in the UK before leaving for the USA. Brian’s bronze sculptures are cast in the same foundry as the famous Frogman, but his subject matters are arguably more natural and true to life and vary from Penguins to Pelicans and Herons.
The latest offering from Brian on show now is the amazing leaping Dolphins sculpture. Cast in bronze from an edition of only 50 worldwide, the movement and feeling in this piece is brilliant.
On show now while stocks last so do call in and take a look.
Out and About
We have also been out this week hanging artworks in one of our local restaurants that many of our regulars will know. The Cornerhouse in Wrightington is now enjoying a new collection of original paintings by Rozanne Bell so if you fancy a bite to eat when you have visited the gallery and still need more of an art fix, why not go along an take a look.
