Barry Hilton Exhibition
Last updated onOur first artist appearance of the year will be a welcome home for one of our most enduringly popular landscape artists, Barry Hilton.
Although internationally collected, we are very lucky to be Barry Hilton’s most local gallery and have been fortunate to have enjoyed the privilege of showcasing his artwork for nearly two decades. Now in his 82nd year, Barry Hilton continues to evolve from the street scenes and galleons that he painted early in his career in Cornwall in the 1970s, to his dramatic landscapes which he is so widely collected for today. The exhibition will include works from across the decades but revolve around a brand new selection of paintings produced especially for this fabulous exhibition. Developments of his current landscapes can be seen in some of his new paintings where his deep love of abstraction is starting to emerge and make it’s mark on his recognisable motifs.
Although you will often hear Barry Hilton described as a self taught artist, few artist’s continue to study art as much as Barry when they have been painting as long as he has. In recent years he has continued to broaden his knowledge having taken on a print making course as well as few people being aware that he also achieved a first class degree in ceramics as a mature student. This continual quest for improvement and evolution has meant that demand for his work has increased steadily over the decades as collectors from around the UK and beyond have been captivated by his striking compositions. In recent years, his work has been used on book covers as far afield as Canada and his exhibitions continue to sell out.
We are thrilled to say that Barry will be at the gallery from 7-9pm on Friday 3rd March when he will be happy to discuss his work in more depth with those lucky enough to attend, and also dedicate any works purchased on the evening. Existing mailing list clients will receive full details of the exhibition in due course but if you are not already on our invitation list, please do contact us at sales@hepplestonefineart.com for more information.
