Blog Week 22

It’s Platinum Jubilee weekend so may we take the opportunity to wish you all a fabulous extended bank holiday weekend. If you have time between all of the street parties and celebrations, the gallery will be open as normal on Saturday and Sunday so it would be lovely to see you all.

chris levine lightness of being

This weekend we are delighted to have one of the most iconic images of the Century on show in the form of the limited edition by Chris Levine entitled ‘Lightness of Being’.  Captured in the yellow room of Buckingham Palace with her Majesty, the image immortalises the Queen in a way which is totally unique and reflects the artist’s experience in exploring meditation.  Truly a remarkable work of art, the edition is reproduced as a giclee on aluminium and we encourage you to view it in person while it is available in the gallery.

New Collection from Geoffrey Key

Geoffrey Key Salford StudioWe have had a busy period selling Geoffrey Key’s paintings in recent weeks necessitating a long awaited trip to the artist’s studio to acquire some new paintings.   Geoffrey was on great form and let us know about a must see exhibition that he has recently curated at the Salford Museum and Gallery featuring three of our favourite Northern artists, L S Lowry, Harold Riley and Geoffrey himself.

Geoffrey has had access to the Museum’s own collection and has curated works by the three Northern masters along with a select few pieces by others artists also in Salford’s collection.  The exhibition runs for 12 months so there is plenty of time to enjoy the works on show at your leisure.

As well as an opportunity to catch up with Geoffrey and discuss his work, we were also thrilled to be able to acquire three amazing new oil paintings including the figurative oil above, a stunning still life painting which is his most recently completed work along with a captivating small landscape shown below.
