Week 7 BlogLast updated on
This week has been defined by the final preparations for our Barry Hilton exhibition which is now hung and ready for the preview evening tonight. The work on show is truly stunning and showcases Barry Hilton’s varied subject matters including street scenes, harbours and his famous contemporary landscapes.
The exhibition will be on show this weekend but if you are interested in purchasing a painting by this most sought after artist, tonight’s preview evening from 7-9pm is definitely a must.
New paintings are still flooding in daily with over twenty new works in on Tuesday alone including abstract art from Gisella Ueberall, seascapes from Joan Puerto and a beautiful new collection of James Lawrence Isherwood original paintings which will form the basis of a new exhibition in Spring celebrating 100 years since the artist’s birth.
Lancashire and Northern artists have also dominated the new artworks available on the website this week including a new oil painting by Liverpool artist Don McKinlay, a further Northern Romance painting by David Renshaw and two sold out editions by Burnley’s Steven Townsend.
Amongst the Steven Townsend artworks acquired this week is the very rare edition number 1 of his beautiful Croppers Place image which depicts the farm of One Man and His Dog Star Jim Cropper, nestled in a snowy landscape. A truly one off opportunity.
The are many ways to judge the demand and appeal of an artist and social media gives us a new insight into an artist’s reach. We were thrilled this week that Michael Ashcroft’s fan base is as enthusiastic as we are about the Croston artist’s work with over 12,000 people viewing his latest painting, ‘Out of Towners’, in the first 48 hours when we posted it on Twitter this week. Make sure you follow us on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram to keep up to date.
BBC Radio Lancashire
Giles was back on Radio Lancashire yesterday for his monthly chat with Gilly and will be back again next month with artist Philip Gray as a guest on 17th March just before his appearance and exhibition at the gallery that evening.
A great opportunity to listen to this fascinating extreme artist who has travelled the globe with his art and then come along to meet him from 7-9pm.
