Philip Gray Exhibition
We are finally over our amazing Philip Gray exhibition which was a treat for everybody. Such a stunning selection of paintings, a fascinating artist and a brilliantly enthusiastic group of collectors made for a fabulous St Patrick’s Day exhibition.
Philip treated us to a painting demonstration on the evening which we auctioned in aid of St Catherine’s hospice. The finished painting was purchased by two or our loyal and very generous customers raising a staggering £2500 for such a worthy cause.
James Lawrence Isherwood Exhibition
We are still on the acquisition trail in readiness for our James Lawrence Isherwood exhibition which will run over the weekend of 22nd-23rd April. We have acquired a fabulous selection of some of his best works to mark 100 years since his birth in 1917 with paintings covering every genre from his collectable Wigan figures and London scenes to his very rare Lancashire mine paintings.
The downside of viewing so many Isherwood paintings has been the unearthing of so many non genuine paintings. Two examples of non genuine works have come into the gallery for framing this month so please do beware when purchasing the works from private sources or via auctions as these paintings are being offered on a regular basis.
The exhibition will open at 9.30am on Saturday 22nd April and we warmly invite you along to view the works of this late Wigan artist who has become one of Northern arts most collectable painters.
New Original Paintings
Stunning new paintings include a breathtaking, and very large, abstract piece by Simon Kenny that has to be seen to be believed. This painting will be accompanied shortly by a selection of his new limited edition prints so do call and take a look at these breathtaking abstract artworks.
We have also acquired two new cityscapes this week by the super talented contemporary artist Kris Hardy. The two new paintings depict New York and the Louvre in Paris and offer a refreshingly edgy take on iconic subject matters.
