Our search for the best quality signed limited edition prints by L S Lowry continues and we are thrilled to have obtained some magnificent new examples this week.
The rarest of the collection is from an edition of only 100 hand signed by the artist and is entitled ‘Figures in the Park’ and was one of Lowry favourite ever paintings.
Set in Piccadilly Gardens in Manchester, each of the characters in the painting were real people that Lowry used to observe whilst visiting the park. The cripple, the blaspheming University lecturer in the foreground and the lonely yet smiling child, all made up the social mix that intertwined Lowry’s observations of society during the second half of the twentieth century.
According to Lowry, the painting took over two years to perfect and the fact that he allowed such a special low edition to be created and hand signed is testiment to his affection for it. A real collectors piece and rarely available in todays market.
Also just in this week is a classic and stunning Lowry limited edition entitled ‘An Industrial Town’. Again from a lower edition than many of his editions, one of only 500, ‘An Industrial Town’ is packed with post war Northern life in and around Manchester and Salford.
This particular edition is once again in superb condition and an excellent addition to any Lowry collection, completely classic in composition.
