Description
Yellow Landscape by Theodore Major
Yellow Landscape is an important part of Major’s ouvre, having been part of his first and only exhibition in London in world-famous Cork Street in Mayfair. The Mercury Gallery opened with Major’s exhibition in May 1964 and was to become an important outlet for northern artists in the 1960s and early 1970s. In addition to Major, the gallery exhibited Roger Hampson, Helen Bradley and L.S. Lowry. Sixty years on, we are delighted to be able to show this piece at our Heskin Gallery.
Titled ‘YELLOW LANDSCAPE’ and signed ‘MAJOR’ to the reverse, this is a stunning work. It comes professionally framed and with the added history of its Mercury Gallery label and catalogue of Major’s exhibition there.
