Description
The Dawn Shift Wigan by Theodore Major
One of Theodore Major’s largest compositions and an incredible example of his impactful Industrial scenes.
Major was well known for the depicting the dark industrial north and capturing the toil and torment that went with it. In this incredible painting, Major uses his heavily textured impasto oil technique to represent the trudging working class figures who make their way across the industrial backdrop of chimneys and smog.
Signed to the reverse, this piece is executed on hardboard and framed in a hand finished white gold leaf and black frame.
