Description
Sky and Light by Theodore Major
This incredible industrial skycape entitled ‘Sky and Light’ reflects just that; a foreboding sky with heavy rain obscuring whatever lies across from the view of the only person in sight; or, are those the sun’s rays beginning to pierce the cloud cover after a recent storm? This piece is notable for the depth of the sky and the colours and tones within it, contrasting bleakness with brightness in both subject and mood. A truly stunning example by the late Wigan artist whose paintings were said by critic John Berger in the New Statesman to ‘deserve to hang amongst the best English paintings of our time’.
Signed ‘MAJOR’ to the reverse, this is a stunning work.
