The Good Shepherd advances Mackenzie’s tradition of symbolism in both imagery and title.  The sheep are a metaphor for family, while the shepherd embodies guiding presence.  This piece draws on the artist’s upbringing, echoing the understated themes in a previous work ‘The Apostles’.
