One of the most complete and all encompassing compositions from Lowry, perhaps summing up what Lowry has become most known for. The bustling characters exude every facet of life in the industrial north and are cloaked in the background by the industrial landscape, with mills and chimneys nearly visible and stretching back as far as the eye can see.

Upon inspection, the composition continues to surprise and amuse upon every viewing with hundreds of individual characters parading, dancing and fighting all over the foreground.
