Racing Horses by James Lawrence Isherwood

A fine example of Isherwood’s horse racing paintings capturing the movement and intensity of the racing.  This particular example dates from the second half of the 1970s, a period when Isherwood often painted on canvas rather than hardboard such is the case with this piece.  Signed to the front, the piece is also priced and titled to the reverse along with an exhibition catalogue number.  This particular example has been in one private family collection since it was originally purchased from the artist in the 1970s.
