An original oil on board painting by the late Wigan artist James Lawrence Isherwood depicting, unusually of Manchester.
Often Isherwood’s urban and city paintings would feature London and Wigan but occasionally Manchester featured in his works. In this vibrant composition, the viewer is led down the street where pedestrians make their way up the snowy round lined with street lamps and punctuated by a solitary and iconic red post box. A wonderful demonstration of Isherwood’s dynamic brushwork which have made him such a widely collected expressionist artist.
