Donald McIntyre 1923 - 2009
Although born in Yorkshire, Donald McIntyre spent his childhood years in the northwest of Scotland, an influence that can be seen in his paintings of the Scottish landscape. Having only turned to full time professional painting at the age of 40, Donald McIntyre relocated to North Wales to pursue his art career but regularly visited Scotland for inspiration, often painting on Iona like many of the Scottish colourists. His work hangs in permanent collections including that of HRH The Duke of Edinburgh and he exhibited at the likes of the Royal Academy and Royal Scottish Academy.
