George Somerville

George Somerville was born in Glasgow in 1947. A self-taught Scottish artist, Somerville was renowned for his nostalgic paintings and sculptures that vividly depict life in mid-20th-century Glasgow. 

Drawing inspiration from his childhood experiences during the industrial 1950s, Somerville’s work captured the essence of the era, featuring characters influenced by figures he encountered through his father. 

Despite lacking formal art education, Somerville’s innate talent led to widespread recognition and widespread collector attention throughout the UK and beyond.
