Lucy Manfredi – One to Watch
Last updated onLucy Manfredi, born in 1974 near Stockport, England, is a distinguished British artist celebrated for her evocative oil paintings that capture the essence of Northern life. From a young age, she exhibited a profound passion for drawing and painting, which she pursued academically and professionally.
In 1995, Lucy earned a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Illustration with Animation from Manchester Metropolitan University. Her final exhibition showcased her talent in film and illustrative work. She furthered her studies at Brighton University, obtaining a Master’s degree in Sequential Design. During this period, she was shortlisted for the BBC Filmmakers Award as a young animator in 1994 and was commissioned in 1995 to produce a promotional film for AstraZeneca.
After her studies, Lucy explored various artistic roles, including graphic design for publishing and textile design. However, her enduring love for painting and drawing led her to focus on fine art. In 2018, she was elected as a member of the Manchester Academy of Fine Arts (MAFA), a testament to her artistic contributions.
Lucy’s artwork is renowned for its narrative depth and character portrayal. She often depicts individuals from diverse walks of life, capturing their unique personalities and stories. Her paintings frequently feature scenes of Northern England, reflecting her appreciation for its culture and landscapes.
Her works have been exhibited in various leading galleries, including Todmorden Fine Art, Gorstella Gallery and Clark Art Hale. We are thrilled to have been appointed as the exclusive gallery representing her work and have had a wonderful response in both our Lancashire and Cheshire Galleries. Collectors from across the UK have acquired her pieces along with pieces now finding new homes in collections as far afield as the USA.
Lucy Manfredi continues to create from her studio in Cheshire, contributing significantly to contemporary British art with her distinctive style and storytelling ability.
