Blog Week 9

Last updated on

The snow has come and brought with it a whole host of new paintings which seem to have stirred up a torrent of enquiries and sales from our excited collectors.

Stephen Hawkins

The first of the new arrivals this week have been from Stephen Hawkins who has become a favourite amongst the shooting and country sports fraternity.

The latest examples are beautiful oils on board and depict the crisp English rural landscape.  Stephen’s work will form part of our ‘Country Life’ exhibition which opens on Saturday 7th April amongst a host of other wonderful British artists.

Three of the five new arrivals have sold already so do not delay and check out the current availability now in our Stephen Hawkins gallery here.

Terry Evans

As with Stephen Hawkins, the response to our new Terry Evans collection has been incredible with a number of new landscape paintings selling upon arrival.  We have a fabulous selection still on show in the gallery however including his classic heavily textured landscapes.

David Renshaw

One of the most apt for the season paintings and full of fun and romance, is the latest offering from Southport artist David Renshaw.  Traversing the Slopes is the latest adventure in the lives of Ted and Doris, David Renshaw’s romantic couple who have become the feature of his Northern Romance collection.  With such a unique and quirky subject matter, we don’t expect this one to be around for long.

William Ralph Turner

As hard as it is to continually source the very best new paintings from our contemporary artists, nothing is more challenging than trying to acquire the finest paintings from deceased artists due to the wide spread geographical spread of the collections in which they end up.  We are therefore thrilled and honoured to have sourced two amazing new paintings by the late William Ralph Turner this week including one of the largest and most striking paintings that you will ever see by the artist.

This breathtaking piece of artwork by the one of Northern Art’s most collectable artists is on show in the gallery now and really is worth a visit.  ‘The Prisoner in Greatcoat’ is also accompanied by a smaller example entitled ‘The Lamplighter’ which offers great value for a Turner of equivalent size and quality.

James Lawrence Isherwood Exhibition This Weekend

James Lawrence Isherwood northern artFinally, we have been busy this week making the final acquisitions in readiness for our Isherwood exhibition which opens this Saturday, 3rd March.  Five new Isherwood paintings will be added to the exhibition this week and will join over twenty other original works by the late Wigan artist and cover all subject matters.

London scenes will be represented along with a selection of Wigan paintings and caps and shawls examples which have made him so collectable since his death in 1989.

We do hope you can join us at the gallery over the weekend to view the new works and take in the best of what the Northern art scene has to offer.

Collectors Homes

Finally, we are delighted to share another great collectors home photograph from two of our lucky customers who recently finished off their stunning garden room with three vibrant Gisela Ueberall paintings.  The paintings were the icing on the cake to what is a fabulous and well thought out new space and complemented the existing interior perfectly.

We absolutely love to see where your artwork ends up so do please keep sharing them via email or on our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages.
