Blog Week 6
Last updated onManchester from Afar by Michael Ashcroft
It is always a great pleasure to watch the careers of local artists develop and that has certainly been the case with Michael Ashcroft in recent years.
Born in Croston only a few miles away from the gallery, Michael’s considerable talent has been recognised in the last decade with career highlights including appearing on the BBC’s ‘Show Me the Monet’ program and having his work accepted into the Royal Academy Summer Show in London.
We have worked closely with Michael since his first solo exhibition at the gallery in 2012 but his output is relatively limited given the demand for the work and the fact that all of his work is only in original painting format rather than prints.
We are delighted however to have taken delivery this week of six of his amazing ‘Manchester from Afar’ paintings which combine the contemporary vibrancy of his urban paintings with the classical appeal of his elegant landscapes. The paintings are currently on show in the gallery and we encourage Michael’s collectors to make the trip to view them as soon as possible to ensure they are still available. New from Rozanne Bell
Another artist who we have watched develop over the years is Rozanne Bell who continues to develop her subject matter, constantly evolving and experimenting. In that spirit, we were pleased this week to acquire three new contemporary Silver Birch tree mixed media paintings that really need to be viewed in person to be fully appreciated. Full details are available here and the paintings available to view in the gallery.
Philip Gray Does It Again…..
Philip Gray is confirmed to be exhibiting at the gallery again in October which we are thrilled about as he is always great fun and brings an amazing collection of original artwork with him. In the run up to this exhibition later in the year, we will continue to bring you the best works available starting with this amazing new mountainscape below. This will be shortly followed in a couple of weeks by a new underwater painting which really must be seen to be believed.
Coming Soon…….Cocorico from Frogman
Just yesterday, the Frogman released images of his incredible new Cockerel, Cocorico!! Flamboyant and confident, Cocorico is finished in a beautiful burnished gold and from a wordwide edition of only 350.
