Blog Week 41
Our George Aird exhibition is on now packed with some amazing tribute paintings to the late great L S Lowry. Aird was a great friend of Lowry’s, framing and restoring many of his paintings over the years giving him a unique insight into the artist’s work. With many paintings on show alongside other Northern artists such as Lowry himself, Geoffrey Key and James Lawrence Isherwood, we hope that you get chance to call in over the next week or so to see the collection.
L S Lowry – Station Approach
On the Lowry front, we have had very few new signed limited edition prints in the gallery in recent months due to the increasing scarcity of the work. Such is the demand for his signed editions, sourcing good quality examples at affordable prices has become an increasing challenge. We have however this week been able to acquire a fantastic example of one of his finest editions, ‘Station Approach‘.
From a signed edition of 850, this particular ‘Station Approach’ is in excellent condition with no discolouration of the paper and has been beautifully framed with clarity glass to protect it. If you are interested in investing in a Lowry limited edition, do give this great opportunity some thought and contact the gallery soon to ensure availability as they are becoming genuinely difficult to source.
Feed the Birds by Mackenzie Thorpe
Also just in is a simply stunning new limited edition sculpture by Mackenzie Thorpe. ‘Feed the Birds’ is a staggering resin sculpture produced all in white and catches the light beautifully. Casting fabulous shadows, the gentle peace that the sculpture exudes really has to be seen to be understood in full detail.
Also in this week…….
Along with the new Mackenzie Thorpe, a brand new collection of abstract works by Gisela Uebarall have also arrived this week along with our first selection of abstract works by Australian artist Kevin Burton. The effects that Kevin Burton achieves using leafing and resin techniques is incredible so do check them out next time you are in the gallery.
Don’t forget that we are also now only a month away from Fabian Perez’ next visit to the gallery on 13th November. Since his last visit to the gallery Fabian has been busy completing celebrity portraits including a recent painting presented to Ringo Starr. Check out the photograph now on our Facebook or Instagram pages.
New works are arriving each week in readiness for the exhibition including the rare and incredible ‘Tango’ piece shown below which is rarely available these days. Full details are available online here or in the gallery. Enjoy!
