Blog Week 41Last updated on
Another exciting week of new arrivals into the gallery with internationally recognised artists releasing new works including some shown for the very first time at our gallery.
The first of the special arrivals is from artist Nigel Cooke who celebrated his 60th birthday this week and has painted us our very own Manchester composition. Famed for his cityscapes from around the world, it is a great pleasure to be able to offer something a little more local from one of our most popular cityscape artists.
Along with this stunning new Manchester Original, we also have a beautiful new London embankment painting available to view in the gallery now.
Along with Nigel’s new creations, we have also acquired new works from our enduringly popular local landscape artist Barry Hilton. With all the rain we have had this week it seems apt that Barry Hilton’s latest work is entitled ‘Lower Wetland Fields’.
Following the disappointment of having to cancel Barry’s exhibition earlier this year due to the Covid 19 crisis, all of the exhibition paintings have now sold out so it is a joy to be able to showcase such stunning new examples in the gallery. Keep up the amazing work Barry.
On the local front, we are continuing to work with the winner of last years Lancashire Life Landscape Artist of the Year Award, Ken Roberts. It has been a pleasure sponsor the competition for the last couple of years and continuing to show the finalists works makes it all worthwhile. Four new local scenes of Lytham and the Fylde Coast are now in the gallery to view and enjoy. Full details on the website here.
Nostalgia from Leigh Lambert
Dare we mention Christmas yet? With the festive period approaching quickly, we have also welcomed a series of smaller limited edition prints from Leigh Lambert this week available now at just £288 each.
From limited edition runs on canvas of just 95 each, the new collection of editions on show offer great value and are also truly poignant pieces. We do hope that you can call into the gallery to enjoy them in person.
Still Lives from the Master Javier Mulio
Spanish realist painter Javier Mulio has for many years been our most popular still life artist and he has raised his game again this week by gracing us with three new breathtaking examples of his talent.
Individually these new paintings are unbelievably beautiful but as a series they are incredible. Full details of the three paintings are available by clicking here and all are currently on show in the gallery at the time of writing.
Orignal Works from Ghislaine Howard
Previously voted ‘Woman of the Year’ for her contribution to art and society, and it is hard to over estimate the standing in which Ghislaine Howard is held in the art world.
Born in Eccles, Ghislaine’s works can be found in many private and public collections including the Royal collection. Despite the critical acclaim and public art exhibitions that she has enjoyed, Ghislaine’s Original Paintings can still be surprisingly affordable with the new pieces in the gallery starting at just £425.

Introducing Hamish Herd
As well as our established artists, we are also pleased to introduce the works of a debut artist to the gallery this week by painter and sculptor Hamish Herd.
Having spent much of his artistic career and life in South Africa, Hamish Herd is now living in West Yorkshire where he has set up his studio alongside with his wife who is also a talented artist in her own right.
The debut collection is a set of three large jesmonite sculptures, each cast from very low limited edition runs of just 25 each. Unique in style, as each of these large sculptures are produced in stone, they are able to be displayed either indoors or outdoors in the garden bringing a whole new dimension to the work.
Standing at over 50” tall, the largest of the three sculptures is a true statement piece and a real sight to behold and the set together are a delight. Available individually or as a set of three, we currently have a matching numbered set available, each boxed and supplied with certificate of authenticity.
Lil Pebbles by Frogman
Finally on the sculpture front, our latest delivery from the Frogman foundry is in this week so we are all topped up on beautiful frog bronzes. Amongst the new collection is however just one copy of a rare special edition of only 50 worldwide entitled Lil’ Pebbles.
Cast in the same patina as the recent release Mirage, Lil’ Pebbles will sit on the table top or alternatively wall mount as an added dimension. Please note that we only have one of this rare edition available at the time of writing so don’t delay and click here if you would like to add him to your collection.
