Blog Week 25
Fabian Perez was the obvious highlight from last week with the South American artist’s visit from the US to the gallery on Saturday evening drawing a great crowd of knowledgable collectors.
Fabian was as charming as ever and enthusiastically signed all the paintings purchased on the evening and we all enjoyed a hot & balmy evening of art and live music. A big thank you goes out to Fabian for making the trip once again, Brett for an amazing guitar solo session and all our great friends who joined us for the evening. We still have an impressive collection of Fabian Perez original paintings and limited edition prints on show so do call in if you missed out on seeing the collection.
Rare and Sold Out Editions
As well as acquiring the latest collections from the leading artists of the day, scouring the secondary market for rare and sold out prints is another service that sets us apart from many of our competitors. In the last couple of weeks, we have been pleased to acquire several very rare collectors pieces for discerning art lovers. The red hot ‘Ophelia’ by Kerry Darlington which had the phone ringing off the hook and sold very quickly after being released online has been followed by two of Todd White’s sought after previously sold out editions.
‘On Again, Off Again’ and ‘My Favourite Three Words’ were originally released as a pair and quickly sold out due to their superb subject matter and the fact that they are physically smaller than many of his more recent releases and therefore easy to add to an already large collection. Although available to purchase individually, these two limited editions have matching edition numbers so are a great pair for any collector inclined to purchase a collectible set. Do not delay if you would like to own these two however as they won’t be around for long.
Along with Todd White, we have also acquired some very collectible pieces by the late L S Lowry in the last couple of weeks which are massively sought after at the moment.
The pick of the latest selection is one of his rarest low edition prints from a hand signed edition of only 100. ‘A Day at the Park’ was based on Picadilly Gardens in Manchester and features a whole host of characters Lowry observed and knew in real life Manchester. The very low edition size for the day, along with the age and superb condition, make this a real collectors piece and one that we are very proud to have hanging in the gallery.
You can view the full Lowry collection in the gallery or here in our online Lowry gallery.
This week has also been a busy week for the sale of some of our more valuable paintings. Perhaps fuelled by the uncertainties caused by nervousness around traditional investment markets due to the commencement of Brexit negotiations, or perhaps the arrival of ISA statements showing paltry returns, the enthusiasm for paintings seems to have been stimulated across the board from contemporary artists to deceased.
Some of the finest ever original paintings by Andrei Protsouk, figurative works by Fabian Perez and a stunning Theodore Major floral have all found their way into new collections this week so a massive congratulations goes to all those collectors who have managed to acquire them. Do contact the gallery if you are interested in owning a special heirloom painting and we will be happy to guide you in any way we can.
Watch out over the next couple of weeks for special works being added by the likes of Northern artists Harold Riley and Isherwood as well as new work by US based Andrei Protsouk.
The eagle eyed amongst you will have also noticed that under the ‘About’ menu on the website we have added a ‘Collectors Homes’ tab to show where some of our paintings end up. It is great for us at the gallery, and of course the artists, to see where the art ends up and hopefully is also interesting to collectors to see how different people choose to live with their collections.
We would love to see your paintings at home so if you would like to share some of your favourite pieces with us, please do email some images to us at email@example.com or via social media on Facebook and Twitter and we will add them onto the page.
