Another busy week draws to a close having almost completed our annual sale and visited a number of collectors in the South East delivering some stunning paintings to some fabulous private collections.
A big congratulations goes out to all of those collectors who have grabbed some great bargains and the new artworks that we have been making space for are also starting to arrive. Major new collections have been announced this week including the Masters of Disguise collection from Doug Hyde along with new releases from the likes of Frogman and David Renshaw.
Master of Disguise
The Doug Hyde ‘Masters of Disguise’ sculpture collection follows on from his sell out limited edition print collection which included iconic images such as ‘Catman and Robin’ and ‘Catches Thieves Just Like Flies’. Doug’s unique interpretation of legendary movie characters such as Superman and Darth Vader are amazing and truly have to be seen to be believed. As ever with Doug Hyde’s sculptures, many of the these editions of 395 each will be sure to sell out before they physically arrive in the gallery so do pre order any favourites now to avoid disappointment.
Also released at the same time as the sculptures is Doug’s annual Valentines release which this year is entitled ‘Head Over Heels’. Featuring the gorgeous black Labrador that has become such a favourite with Doug Hyde collectors, ‘Head Over Heels’ is sure to be a big hit again.
Lovebirds by Frogman
Following on the Valentines theme, the Frogman is also feeling romantic but has taken a departure this year from his traditional Valentines frog. The official Valentines release this February will be the stunning Lovebirds sculpture which as ever is cast in bronze, and sits upon a bronze cast reed finished in a beautiful silver nitrate patina.
Being such a unique sculpture and cast from an edition of only 200 worldwide, we hope the Lovebirds sculpture will prove as popular as ever and be a touching and personal gift for some lucky collectors on Valentines Day.
New from David Renshaw
Clearly love is in the air for all of our artists this January as the first painting of 2018 from David Renshaw has also arrived this week and is from his Northern Romance series.
Charting the love story of Ted & Doris, this latest instalment from David Renshaw takes a slight detour in terms of colour palette with this new original painting being predominantly in black and white with just a few stunning accents of colour.
A great addition to any David Renshaw collection, do call in and see this painting before it goes as it is sure not to be in the gallery for long.
Rare from Todd White
And finally, as well as the new paintings and sculpture releases this week, we have also managed to secure a final copy of one of Todd White’s most popular editions, ‘Baby Blue’. Previously sold out, we were amazed to source this piece again and it is now available online or in the gallery on a first come first served basis.
In addition to ‘Baby Blue’, next week we will be receiving another copy of the fabulously unique ‘English Girls are Mean’. Those who attended Todd White’s exhibition at the gallery last October will have seen a preview of ‘English Girls are Mean’ which is a remarkably different concept for Todd White. Printed using the dye sublimation technique and each piece uniquely finished by Todd White with gold detailing, ‘English Girls are Mean’ has a completely different feel to previous editions and hangs unframed with a very contemporary look.
This edition is from a worldwide edition of only 45 so we are delighted to have it available to view at the gallery or online now. With such a unique finish, it really is one to be viewed in person if possible.
