Blog Week 17

Last updated on

Spring has sprung with the arrival of Easter and it’s been reflected in the artwork coming through in recent weeks as well. We have been inundated with fabulous new releases along with previously sold out editions by some of our leading artists.

Lost Words by Jackie Morris & Robert Macfarlane

The Lost Words collection is a selection of images painted by Jackie Morris which feature in the ‘Lost Words’ book by Robert Macfarlane and Morris. The book is a spell book that seeks to conjure the near lost magic, beauty and strangeness of the nature that surrounds us. Taking the form of twenty ‘lost’ words, collected alphabetically from ‘Acorn’ to ‘Wren’ each word becomes a spell, written by Macfarlane.

The beautiful imagery from the book is now available as gorgeous limited edition prints, signed by both the author Macfarlane and the illustrator Jackie Morris. A selection of the limited edition prints are available in the gallery now either framed or mounted. Let’s help to keep the love of nature in our children’s hearts and mind through this wonderful collection of artworks.

‘Once upon a time, words began to vanish from the language of children. They disappeared so quietly that at first almost no one noticed – fading away like water on stone. The words were those that children used to name the natural world around them: acorn, adder, bluebell, bramble, conker – gone! Fern, heather, kingfisher, otter, raven, willow, wren…all of of them gone! The words were becoming lost….’
