New Northern Art
Last but by no means least, we also have on show new works by some of the Northern art scenes most sought after painters, the late Appley Bridge master, Theodore Major ,Salford’s Geoffrey Key and the man who needs no introduction, L S Lowry.
Legendary for his dark and forboding compositions, Major is emerging from the shadow of his friend and contemporary L S Lowry as his estate slowly unveil the full body of the work he produced throughout his lifetime. We strongly encourage any Northern Art fans or fans of fine art in general to come and view these amazing original paintings.
The two new paintings from Geoffrey Key are both earlier examples, one of which dates back to the 1980s.
It is always fascinating to see an artist’s journey through the earlier works and the demand is always strong for these rarer works. Both are stunning pieces and again well worth the trip to the gallery to view in person.
The final pieces new into the gallery this week are a series of signed limited edition prints by Lowry. We have added a number of titles to our inventory including The Beach, Peel Park, Mrs Swindells Picture and a wonderful example of Market Scene in a Northern Town. Having been owned by one local family for the preceeding decades, this is one of the finest examples of this edition you will ever see with it’s rich original colours now protected behind UV glass.
