Michael Ashcroft Artist Biography

Born in 1969 in the picturesque village of Croston, only three miles from Hepplestone Fine Art, Michael Ashcroft is one of the UK's exciting up and coming artists.

From an early age Michael Ashcroft had a keen interest in art but only painted part time after leaving school and embarking upon a career as an engineer in Leyland. In 1998 after undergoing a major operation in Manchester, Ashcroft decided to paint more seriously, a decision which has led him to his exciting full time career as an artist today.

Michael Ashcroft's big art breakthrough came in 1995 whe he felt ready to exhibit in a major competition and entered into the International Artist exhibition. The painting was a top ten finalist and went on to win a major local exhibition and sold before the event opened.

From this point, Michael Ashcroft began to be approached at first by leading Lancashire Art Galleries wishing to sell his work and is now represented throughout the UK.

Based in North West England, Michael Ashcroft quickly establishing himself as one of the UK's rising art stars. His passion for art stems from a feeling of wanting to capture light and dark in its purest form, transferring this to board using palette knife and brush. His paintings are widely sought after and are held in many private collections internationally. Awards include 'International Artist Finalist' and 'Brownedge Art Festival Winner'.
